Appeal to the Advocate Fraternity
Tamil Nadu & Puducherry Bar Council Election
Dear, Respected and Learned Advocate,
I am a practising Advocate before the Hon’ble High Court of Madras with 28 years of dedicated experience in the legal profession.
I hail from an agricultural family in Thanjavur District and I am the First Generation lawyer from my family to enter this noble profession. I completed my schooling in Kumbakonam. Though I initially joined an engineering course at CIT, Coimbatore, my deep passion for law led me to pursue my legal studies at Dr. Ambedkar Government Law College, Chennai, in 1993. I was enrolled in the Bar Council in 1998 with Enrolment No. Ms.820/98.
My legal journey began under the esteemed mentorship of Thiru R. Margabandhu (Former MP & Former Chairman, TN & Puducherry Bar Council) and Thiru R. Duraisamy. While practising, I continued to advance my academic credentials by completing ML (Labour & Administrative Law) from Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University, M.Com from Alagappa University, MBA (Labour Laws) from NIBM, M.Sc (Applied Psychology) and MA (History) from Annamalai University. I have also completed several diploma programmes, including DLL and DIRPM, and the award of the Ph.D. degree in Law from Bharath University, Chennai, marks the realization of my academic aspiration.
Since establishing my independent practice in the year 2001, I have primarily specialised in criminal law. I began my practice in the Alandur and Saidapet Magistrate Courts and gradually expanded to George Town, Egmore and Tambaram Courts. Today, I am actively practising before the Hon’ble High Court of Madras, the City Civil Courts and the Sessions Courts across Tamil Nadu, handling a wide spectrum of cases. I have also filed several Public Interest Litigations serving both the general public and the legal fraternity. I had the privilege of being elected as an Executive Committee Member of MHAA for three terms.
I serve as an Honorary Visiting Faculty at a private law college in Chennai, regularly take classes at the Police Academy, deliver training sessions for Judicial Officers, and conduct free coaching classes for Judicial Service & APP aspirants through various academies, including the renowned Manithaneyam Academy.
I have been appointed as a Notary Public by the Government of India in the year 2008 and still continuing. I was also appointed as an Oath Commissioner in the year 2004 and periodically renewed till date. The Government of Tamil Nadu has appointed me as Special Public Prosecutor for Bomb Blast Cases, POTA Cases and several other sensitive and high-profile matters and I have conducted hundreds of sensational cases with commitment and responsibility. I also regularly represent corporations and public-sector undertakings before various courts and forums across India. In addition, I am a High Court–trained Mediator, a DLSA Chennai 'B' Panel Advocate and I actively handle arbitration matters. I successfully cleared the Direct District Judge Examination (2011) and narrowly missed selection during the interview stage.
I have consistently taken part in all programmes, dharnas, and protests organised for the welfare and rights of the advocate community. Whenever my fellow advocates faced difficulties, I stood by them 24×7, relentlessly offering help, support and guidance. My commitment to the profession and to the betterment of our fraternity has always remained steadfast and uncompromising.
I frequently participate in television discussions on legal issues and matters concerning the legal fraternity. With a strong passion for writing, I have authored Ten law books and numerous articles in reputed magazines, earning accolades from many distinguished associations and organisations. I have also served as a key resource person in various training and sensitisation programmes across different branches of law, helping highlight crucial gaps and loop-holes.
With this background and with unwavering dedication to the legal profession, I humbly place myself before you as a candidate for the post of Member, Tamil Nadu & Puducherry Bar Council. I had earlier contested in the 2018 Bar Council Election and narrowly missed winning by a very small margin. I am now contesting the prestigious Tamil Nadu & Puducherry Bar Council Election to be held on 30-03-2026, and I sincerely seek your support, trust, and your valuable first preferential vote to serve our noble legal fraternity with commitment, integrity and purpose.
I come forward with several new ideas, innovative schemes, and practical initiatives for the welfare and upliftment of the advocate fraternity. My focus is on creating meaningful, result-oriented measures that address the real needs of our profession. If I am elected, I assure you that I will faithfully implement every promise I make and will work tirelessly to ensure that these plans are transformed into effective action for the benefit of all advocates.
I sincerely seek your support, trust and your valuable first preferential vote to enable me to serve the advocates’ fraternity, strengthen our professional community, and uphold the dignity of the rule of law with commitment, integrity and efficiency.
